Hi Jordan, I want to start by saying I love your product and I''ve been waiting for this for awhile - thanks a bunch!

I just downloaded your demo last night, and based on what I''ve done so far, I wanted to suggest the following:

1) $30 bucks seems a little steep for text-based product when the original design product is only $18.95. Not sure I''m willing to fork that out just yet, especially considering you just released it and we could be looking at additional charges for upgrades to full versions?!? Might suggest a lower intro price, at least until the product is a little more mature.

2) I''ve had some challenges navigating through the program. I think it would rock if there was a quick find feature (i.e., CTRL+F) or some equivalent other than search that would allow you to Go To a specific word and that would allow you to quickly exit the search. Your "Find and Replace" feature is close, but you can''t just "Find" something easily with the keyboard - i.e., you have to type it in, then click find, then select the "x" because escape doesn''t get you out. I guess just cleaning that up would be very useful.

3) Not sure what happened, but I was messing around with your insert time as tag function (CTRL + U), and I tried to change the format of the date, went back to the program, pressed it, and all of the display changes I had made (i.e., font, size and colour) reset to the default. I also lost all of the additional default tags I had added to the preferences screen. As I said, not sure what happened here, but it was kind of a pain. Might be nice to be able to save additional template formatting setups (i.e., like your "Light" and "Dark") created by the user.

4) Lastly, it would be nice to be able to hop back and forth between the document map and the text file with your keyboard (i.e., something like Alt+1), or simply a views menu that works with the document map to display a specific project or tag quickly and with keyboard shortcuts.

Overall, I love what you''re doing here and I''m excited to see this work. Not sure I''m willing to cough up for this yet, but I''ll keep watching. Thanks for your time and hard work. j.

Hey Jake!

Let me start off by saying thank you so much for your input. I really appreciate it. It helps me a lot to hear from you and others.

Here are some replies:

  1. $30 is higher than the original TaskPaper. However, I feel that TodoPaper is comparable to where TaskPaper 2.0 is going. Jesse released TaskPaper for $19 because he felt it lacked features of his original plan. I've implemented many new features over TaskPaper 1.0 and feel the value provided is worth the extra $10. Now, in light of this, I've taken your suggestion to heart and may consider offering an introductory price until the product matures. ( Also, I am offering a considerable discount to any existing TaskPaper user )
  2. This was a function that I had overlooked as I was more focused on the search / filtering mechanism. Today, I have revamped the find and replace dialog with the ability to press escape to close the window and enter to search the document. Also, I've added a few new find modes such as Multiline searches and Case matching. Regular expression searches may be in the near future.
  3. Do you have an example of the date format you added? It may have corrupted the settings file, which would restore everything to default. I'll look into this and try to make it a little more friendly. Also, in the future I do want to enable the user to save their templates for future use. The light and dark templates were just the start of this.
  4. This is insightful. I'll see what I can do here.

Jake, thank you for your suggestions and comments. They are very helpful. I'm glad you are enjoying TodoPaper and I hope to hear from you again soon.

Thanks again.

Best, Jordan
