Hello, I love taskpaper on my mac and can't wait to start using TodoPaper.

Would it be possible to get a "portable" version...for use with portable apps maybe?

Keep up the good work.

Hey There,

I AM working on a portable version of TodoPaper. At the moment however, it is delayed by licensing issues. Once the issues are cleared up, the portable version should be available.

I would love to get to know about your usage of TodoPaper. If you don't mind me asking, what is the main reason for needing a portable version?

Thanks! Jordan

Well I've been using portable apps on my usb key and using them @ work and @ home. It really helps because, quite frankly my work machine isn't that pleasurable to work on :-).
Also i move between Mac/PC and i have TaskPaper on my mac and use either fusion/or boot camp.

Seems like a perfect tool for a portable version.

Hopefully that helps!

Can you not just install ToDoPaper on the work machine and save the data file onto the memory stick? since all you really need to save on the pc is the application settings, not the actual data you use?

This would not solve the issue if you wanted to use it truely portable, eg a different machine every day, but would work when jumping between a few pre-defined pc's.

well sure... i could do that, if the licensing permits it. It was just an idea because the app seems like it would be perfect for a portable app.

Hey there,

I just want to clear a few things up. The TodoPaper license allows you to install the application and register it fully on one computer. It also allows you to make 1 inactive backup copy of the software. However, to install it and register it on more than one machine, you have to purchase additional licenses. While this is an extra cost to incur, I am considering discounting multiple license purchases.

As soon as the portable version is released, you (tentatively) will be able to use the software on multiple machines. I still have to work out the licensing for the portable apps and will keep all of you updated.

Hope this helps!

Might I suggest MojoPac. MojoPac effectively allows you to create a portable app out of any app.

I tried this out and it didn't work on first try. I'll look into it further as a method of creating a portable TodoPaper. Thanks for the suggestion!

Jordan, I just changed jobs, and would love to have TaskPaper on my USB stick, so I could run it off the USB stick (I can't install apps on my work computer).

Thanks, Tim

I understand. I know some people have successfully installed TodoPaper to a thumb drive, but it is currently unsupported as I haven't been able to get it to work correctly. But, if you do try, let me know if you run into any problems with it and I can try to help you out.

Best,
Jordan

Is this something you intend to support in the future (it's not clear from your responses if you still plan to or have given up)? It would be a very useful capability. It seems to run ok from a USB drive for me, but I don't know if registering will follow the USB drive everywhere. Also, it should support a command-line option when starting to read/write settings in, for instance, an .ini file in the exe path instead of the registry. Thanks.

My plans are to make version 2.0 fully thumb-drive compatible.

So far, it is unsupported in 1.0, however I do try to help those who want to attempt the install. In the meantime, the portable apps installer should work to aid in thumb-drive support.

Feel free to email me or instant message me if you need any help installing the application.
